Safety Systems

Safety is the Bottom Line

We always provide high quality safety systems that serve the goals of your program. We have the capability and experience to put in a variety of safety system designs. Our design innovations for handling fall protection can simplify the safety systems and course operations while reducing wear and impact on the equipment. Bonsai Design is a member of the ACCT. All of our structures and equipment exceed all ACCT standards.

We offer several options for safety systems:

  • Static belay
  • Participant dynamic belay
  • Team dynamic belay
  • Automatic belay devices
  • Innovative belay solutions:
    • Stainless steel belay bars and belay corrals
    • Counterweighted team-belay structures

Our Safety Track Record Speaks for Itself

  • Premier canopy tour locations in Alaska
  • Over 25,000 participants served, free from major incidents
  • 15+ years of experience installing high-quality safety systems
  • Innovative designs pioneered by our company

Descriptions of Safety System Options

There are several types of safety systems that we use to secure participants:

  • Participant Static Belay. Participants are attached to overhead safety cables or tracks via adjustable safety lanyards, and are required to take an active role in managing their own safety.
  • Instructor Dynamic Belay. Participants are secured to a climbing rope that is attached to another person on the ground, usually an instructor, who controls the participant's descent from a high point, much like rappelling in rock climbing.
  • Team Dynamic Belay. Participants are secured to a climbing rope that is attached to a team of people on the ground. The team members use communication and strength in numbers to control the participant's descent from a high point. An instructor and/or structural failsafe is employed as well in order to ensure ultimate safety.
  • Automatic Belay Devices. These hydraulic fall protection devices are gaining in popularity, and are used for programs whose focus is primarily recreational. They allow a greater participant to staff ratio, and often increased participant throughput. The devices require additional technical training and diligence in execution of maintenance and inspections schedules.
  • Innovative Belay Solutions. Our focus has always been to empower organizations to gain educational value from the structures that we install. We also believe that the more unique the experience is, the more impressionable it will be on the participants. Our innovative safety systems have created one-of-a-kind environments in the adventure challenge field that enable participants to have unique peak experiences found nowhere else in the world.

Built with harmony, precision and balance.
